Re: McAfee Slows Down My Laptop Well, I had uninstalled my copy of McAffee Internet Security. Once I removed every instance of it, via the supplied uninstaller and going through the Windows Registry to remove the same, my laptop was blazing fast.

When we go to shut this machine down, it comes up with the infamous "Windows 7 Programs Running in the background" screen, but there is nothing listed. We waited for half an hour already once and it never got past that screen on the shutdown process.

My computer is always on to perform various tasks, but since upgrading my internet slows down over night (or if I'm away from the computer several hours). It appears to be something DNS related, as I can run a speed test and get my full rated connection speed.
